Overview

The 2025 KX85 is Kawasaki’s youth motocross machine engineered for closed-course competition. It delivers responsive two-stroke power, race-bred suspension, and adjustable ergonomics to help developing riders progress confidently from smaller classes toward full-size motocross bikes.

Engine and Drivetrain

An 84cc, liquid-cooled, two-stroke single provides crisp throttle response and strong pull through the revs. Kawasaki’s power-valve system is designed to broaden usable torque, making starts, corner exits, and midrange acceleration more manageable. A close-ratio 6-speed transmission and manual clutch allow precise control of power delivery across varied track conditions.

Chassis and Suspension

A lightweight, high-tensile steel perimeter frame gives the KX85 predictable handling and stability in ruts, whoops, and jump landings. A 36 mm inverted cartridge fork with external adjustability and a Uni-Trak rear shock with adjustable settings enable riders and tuners to dial-in suspension for rider weight, track layout, and surface grip. The package is set up for long-travel control and consistent damping over repeated hits.

Brakes and Wheels

Front and rear petal disc brakes provide strong, consistent stopping power and feel, helping younger racers modulate braking deep into corners. The KX85 uses a 17-inch front and 14-inch rear wheel combination to balance agility with stability, paired with motocross-specific tires for predictable traction on soft to intermediate terrain.

Ergonomics and Design

A slim seat-tank profile and narrow shrouds support easy body movement and quick weight shifts. The handlebar position is adjustable to accommodate growth and rider preference, extending the bike’s fit window as skills and stature advance. Factory-style Lime Green bodywork and graphics mirror Kawasaki’s larger KX models for a cohesive race-team look.
