Overview

The 2026 KX™250 is built for riders who demand precise handling, strong mid-to-top power, and race-ready durability. It carries forward the KX heritage of winning starts, consistent lap times, and predictable control on rutted, hardpack, and loamy tracks alike. From engine response to chassis balance and rider ergonomics, the KX250 is engineered to help you focus on lines, not compromises.

Engine and Power Delivery

At the heart is a competition-developed 249cc liquid-cooled, four-stroke single with dual overhead cams and advanced fuel injection. The engine’s character is tuned for crisp throttle response and a broad, useable spread of power that rewards aggressive corner exits and high-rpm driving on long straights. A close-ratio transmission supports seamless shifts under load, while an electric start and a hydraulic clutch streamline launches and reduce fatigue over long motos.

Chassis and Suspension

An aluminum perimeter frame provides a rigid, lightweight foundation that translates input directly to the ground and communicates traction clearly to the rider. Fully adjustable, competition-grade suspension at both ends is calibrated for stability at speed, compliance over braking bumps, and hold-up on harsh landings. Steering response is quick without feeling nervous, supporting confident line changes and ruts carved with the front wheel.

Ergonomics and Controls

A slim midsection and flat seat profile allow easy movement fore and aft. Adjustable handlebar and footpeg positions help riders tailor fit and weight distribution. Braking is handled by strong, heat-resistant discs designed for repeatable performance late in the moto. The cockpit layout keeps critical information and controls accessible, so you can concentrate on race craft, not workarounds.

Race-Focused Features

Launch-assist and selectable mapping (where equipped) are designed to optimize starts and traction on changing surfaces. Durable bodywork and well-placed service points simplify maintenance between motos. From grips to footpegs, touchpoints are built to transmit feedback while minimizing rider fatigue.
