The 2026 KX™250X is Kawasaki’s full-size cross-country racer built to convert motocross pedigree into all-day speed between the ribbons. It takes the proven KX® platform and tailors it for woods, desert, and grand prix competition, delivering precise handling, responsive power, and race-ready durability for technical terrain.

Cross‑Country Focus

Purpose-built for off-road competition, the KX250X is configured with a 21-inch front and 18-inch rear wheel to improve traction and compliance over roots, rocks, and square edges. Off-road‑tuned suspension and model‑specific engine mapping help produce tractable drive out of tight corners and through slick sections, while a standard side stand adds convenience on staging lines and pit stops without adding unnecessary bulk.

Powertrain

At its core is a high-revving 249 cc liquid‑cooled four‑stroke single derived from Kawasaki’s championship motocross program. A lightweight DOHC, finger‑follower valve train and efficient intake/exhaust routing support strong mid-to‑top power, while electric start and a hydraulic clutch deliver consistent engagement and quick restarts when seconds matter. Tunable engine mapping lets riders tailor response to course conditions and preference.

Chassis and Control

An aluminum perimeter frame provides a rigid, lightweight foundation for accurate line choice and confident stability at speed. Fully adjustable long‑travel suspension is valved for cross‑country impacts and sustained pace, complemented by strong, heat‑resistant petal disc brakes for consistent stopping power. Off‑road‑spec tires and wheels are matched to the chassis to maximize grip and feedback on varied terrain.

Ergonomics and Setup

Slim bodywork and a flat seat‑tank junction promote effortless movement front to rear, and adjustable handlebar and footpeg positions help riders find a balanced attack stance. The cockpit and controls are laid out for long‑haul comfort without sacrificing the direct feel demanded by racers.
