It takes the proven KLX®230R platform and lowers the seat height for easier reach to the ground without sacrificing the playful handling, tractable power, and durability that make the KLX® family a favorite on singletrack and in open trail environments. As an off-road–only model, it is engineered for dirt performance and is not street legal.

At the heart of the KLX®230R S is a responsive, fuel-injected 233cc air-cooled four-stroke single designed for smooth, manageable power across low to mid rpm. This friendly power delivery makes technical climbs, tight switchbacks, and varied terrain more accessible, while still offering enough punch to keep experienced riders entertained. Electric start and modern EFI help ensure reliable, consistent performance and easy starting in changing altitudes and temperatures.

Chassis and Ergonomics

A lightweight steel perimeter frame gives the bike a planted, predictable feel with balanced rigidity for trail stability and agile steering. The S model features suspension and ergonomics tuned to reduce seat height for improved confidence at stops and in low-speed maneuvers, especially for newer riders or those who prefer a more accessible stance. Off-road wheel sizing—with a 21-inch front and 18-inch rear—supports a wide selection of trail tires and helps the KLX®230R S roll over obstacles with ease. Braking is handled by disc setups front and rear for controlled stopping power in dirt conditions.
