Ducati Streetfighter V4: The Fight Formula, Taken to the Extreme

The Streetfighter V4 isn’t some neutered street bike. Strip away the plastics, bolt on a wide flat bar, and you get the Panigale V4 stripped down and wide-bar ready—and for this round, it borrows the identical Desmosedici Stradale engine setup from the Panigale V4, holding back zero grunt. It hits like a full-blown track weapon on circuit days, yet feels shocking fun out on public asphalt, taming pure rage into something almost friendly for everyday wrist control.

Bologna tweaked this setup for 2025. They threw in a lighter, more rigid frame structure, recalculated rider posture, built-in aero wings, and borrowed electronic brainpower wholesale from the 2025 Panigale V4. Step up to the Streetfighter V4 S and you gain Öhlins Smart EC 3.0 electronic suspension, forged aluminium rims, alongside a lithium-ion cell. Less mass. Razor-sharp reactions. Pure hyper-naked chaos.

The Desmosedici Stradale V4: MotoGP Soul, Naked Aggression

Buried deep inside sits the 1,103 cc Desmosedici Stradale 90° V4, birthed straight out of Ducati’s Grand Prix garage. It runs a reverse-rotating crank, mechanical Desmo valve actuation, and that signature Twin Pulse firing sequence, barking out an exhaust note that screams pure Desmosedici GP lineage.

This year’s motor edges far closer to true Panigale V4 trim. Engineers reshaped the cams for more lift, slapped in the stator and oil scavenge pump off the Panigale V4 R, then grabbed the shift drum straight from the exotic Superleggera V4.

Core engine figures (Global spec):

Parameter Streetfighter V4
Verschiebung 1,103 cc
Konfiguration 90° V4, Desmodromic, liquid-cooled
Maximale Leistung 214 hp (157.4 kW) @ 13,500 rpm
Maximales Drehmoment 120.0 Nm (88.5 lb-ft) @ 11,250 rpm
Bohrung x Hub 81 mm x 53.5 mm
Verdichtungsverhältnis 14.0:1
Kraftstofflieferung Electronic fuel injection, twin injectors per cylinder, full ride-by-wire elliptical throttle bodies
Intake Variable-length intake trumpets (25 mm short / 80 mm long)

Heads up: North American trim puts out 205 hp at 12,650 rpm with 119.7 Nm at 11,500 rpm, mostly down to regional EPA intake and pipe revisions.

Fitting variable intake funnels—a debut on this naked model—beefs up top-end horsepower while smoothing out low-rpm pull. It isn’t just a high-rpm dragster; it meters out smooth drive when navigating traffic. Bolt on the optional track-only Akrapovič full system to release 226 hp, revealing how raw this race motor really is.

Chassis and Swingarm: Lightness, Flex, and Feel

Ein aluminum alloy “Front Frame” cradles the top, clamping around the engine block as a structural element. Ducati re-worked the chassis setup, targeting chassis feedback, mechanical bite, and drive coming off corner apexes.

The biggest shakeup? Ditching the single-sided arm for a double-sided Ducati Hollow Symmetrical Swingarm. Cheap out? Far from it. This structural shift cuts weight by 37% and dials in a calculated 43% drop in lateral stiffness. That engineered flex builds immense flickability, tire feel, and rear traction when leaned over. Up front, the main alloy subframe sheds weight down to 3.47 kg (formerly 4.2 kg), helping keep dry mass down.

Geometry breakdown:

Parameter Streetfighter V4 / V4 S
Radstand 1,496 mm (59 in)
Rechen 24.5°
Pfad 99 mm (3.9 in)
Sitzhöhe 845 mm (33.3 in)
Kraftstofftankkapazität 16 litres (4.2 US gallons)

Angles lean slightly toward high-speed stability compared to the Panigale V4. The stretched wheelbase and altered rake match the wider handlebar, balancing out the upright body posture.

Suspension: Öhlins Smart EC 3.0 (V4 S) vs. Showa/Sachs (Standard V4)

Suspension hardware marks the main divide separating the two Streetfighter models.

Streetfighter V4 S: Öhlins Smart EC 3.0 Semi-Active Suspension

Der V4 S comes equipped with Ducati Electronic Suspension (DES) 3.0, running Öhlins Smart EC 3.0 components:

  • Front: Öhlins NIX30 (SV) S-EC 3.0 43 mm fully adjustable fork with TiN coating, sporting electronic compression and rebound adjustment that adapts to real-time riding inputs.

  • Hinteren: Öhlins TTX36 (SV) S-EC 3.0 monoshock, tuned electronically across rebound and compression circuits.

  • Steering damper: Öhlins electronic damper governed directly by the Öhlins Smart EC 3.0 setup.

As a semi-active system, it recalibrates valving instantly based on lean angle, speed, brake force, and throttle openings. The result? Pure chassis stability, road compliance, and razor-sharp predictability under heavy loads.

Streetfighter V4 (Standard): Showa/Sachs Fully Adjustable

The standard machine relies on an analog setup: a 43 mm Showa BPF fork with full clicker adjustment gepaart mit einem fully adjustable Sachs rear damper and matching steering stabilizer. Old-school mechanical clickers, but deeply capable when hammering hot laps.

Braking: Brembo Hypure and Race eCBS

Both trims sport Brembo Monobloc Hypure® 4-piston radial calipers grabbing twin 330 mm front rotors, plus a 245 mm rear rotor clamped by a 2-piston unit. These fresh Hypure calipers dump heat faster, yielding vicious stopping power without lever fade when trail-braking hard into corners.

The major electronic upgrade here is Race eCBS featuring lean-sensitive Cornering integration. Co-developed by Bosch and Ducati, it drags the rear brake automatically during hard front lever pulls. That subtle rear dragged pressure settles chassis pitch and squares up turn-in stability—helping track addicts chase lower lap times while giving street riders a safety cushion over sketchy pavement.

Electronics: The Ducati Vehicle Observer (DVO) and the Full Suite

A central algorithm called Ducati Vehicle Observer (DVO) runs the electronic safety nets. It calculates physics parameters akin to 70 physical sensors, predicting motorcycle movement to adjust engine torque and traction cuts instantly. Straight out of MotoGP tech, it feeds data into every single rider aid on board.

System Funktion
Fahrmodi Race, Sport, Road, Wet—four distinct maps adjusting throttle response, Öhlins valving (V4 S), and traction cutouts.
Power Modes Full, High, Medium, Low—Low power caps grunt at roughly 158 hp for rainy or slick roads.
Race eCBS Cornering-linked combined braking that drags the rear pad to settle pitch.
DTC DVO Predictive Ducati Traction Control tuned via vehicle dynamic modeling.
DWC DVO Ducati Wheelie Control, anticipating front-wheel lift before it peaks.
DSC Ducati Slide Control, dictating slide angle under heavy throttle turn-outs.
EBC Engine Brake Control, managing rear hop on aggressive downshifts.
DQS 2.0 Bi-directional Ducati Quick Shift for clutchless gear bangs.
DPL DVO Ducati Power Launch for flat-out standing starts.
DBL EVO Strobe brake light activation under sudden hard stopping.
Pit Limiter Speed limiter for pit lane compliance.

Riders configure these parameters via a crisp 6.9-inch TFT dash sporting 1280 x 480 resolution in a wide 8:3 aspect layout. Optically bonded glass cuts glare out in harsh sunlight, letting you scan vital telemetry at a glance without screen clutter.

Aerodynamics: Biplane Wings, Integrated into the Design

Stacked biplane aerodynamic wings anchor directly into the body panels. Far from tacked-on plastic, they sharpen the front profile while planting the front tire with genuine aerodynamic force.

  • Downforce: The wings push down with up to 45 kg (99 lb) of load at 270 km/h, taming front wheel lift under heavy acceleration and locking down high-speed stability.

  • Design integration: Styled to mirror the tank and tail curves, these appendages tie the bike visually back to Ducati’s Desmosedici GP machines.

Ergonomics and Design: More Comfort, Same Insolence

Design language balances raw menace with refined mechanical art: aggressive full-LED running lights, a 16-liter aluminum tank sculpted for leg support, and a sharp, trimmed tail revealing the V4 block and double-sided arm beneath.

Ducati opened up the cockpit geometry for 2025 without blunting the bike’s sharp intent:

  • Der handlebar riser shifts controls back by 10 mm, bringing the bars within easier reach.

  • Der footpegs sit 10 mm lower, moved forward, and pulled in by 10 mm, easing knee bend while letting riders lock their knees into the tank under braking.

  • A longer, wider saddle combines with deeply sculpted tank cutouts to lock the rider into position.

Testers agree: it stays an unapologetic super-naked, yet feels far less punishing and noticeably more flexible on real roads. You could commute or cruise suburban streets, assuming you dare park an Italian exotic on the curb.

Colour options:

  • Ducati Rot (standard on V4 and V4 S)

  • Corse Livery (V4 S exclusive)—inspired by the Desmosedici GP 2025 livery, wrapping traditional red in neon flashes and a white front board wearing the number 1.

V4 S vs. Standard V4: What the S Adds

Opting for the S variant brings a target-focused package that alters chassis behavior and justifies the bump in price:
